Goodman Foundation Beneficiaries Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound partners with actively involved community members to match caring adults with children, both of whom benefit from our one-to-one mentoring programs. National research has shown that the positive relationships between youth and their Big Brothers and Big Sisters have a direct and measurable impact on children's lives. Little Brothers and Sisters are more confident in their schoolwork performance, get along better with their families, and are less likely to begin using drugs or alcohol or skip school. The Goodman Foundation provided Big Brothers Big Sisters with a general grant in support the BBBS mentoring programs. Boys & Girls Clubs of King CountyThe Boys and Girls Clubs of King County's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. With 12 full-service clubs, and 28 before- and after-school program sites, the organization is one of the largest of its kind in the nation, serving 18,000+ members annually. The Goodman Foundation provided a grant in support of the Ballard Club's Casino Night event. Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center, Seattle Children's Hospital is the premier pediatric referral center for the Pacific Northwest and is recognized as one of the top children's hospitals in the nation. The caring staff and physicians at Children's believe that all children have unique needs and should grow up without illness or injury. The Goodman Foundation provided a grant in support of the Racing for Children's campaign at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, where proceeds go to directly benefit Children's cardiac intensive care unit. Holy Family SchoolHoly Family Catholic School is a community whose mission is to develop students who will know their self-worth and learn to give and receive respect and love as they grow in enthusiasm for knowledge of many kinds. The Goodman Foundation provided a grant to benefit the Holy Family School's annual High Hopes auction event. Leukemia & Lymphoma SocietyThe Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $483 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers. The Goodman Foundation provided a grant in support of a participant in the Big Climb for Leukemia event, which proceeds go to research and patient aid programs. Progressive Animal Welfare SocietyA Northwest leader in protecting animals since 1967, the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) shelters homeless animals, rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife, and empowers people to demonstrate compassion and respect for animals in their daily lives. PAWS advocates for animals through education, legislation and direct care. The Goodman Foundation provided a general grant to support PAWS' work. Sierra Club FoundationInspired by nature, the Sierra Club works together to protect communities and the planet. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. The Sierra Club Foundation is a public charity whose mission is to provide financial support to the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations for tax deductible work. Since 1960, The Sierra Club Foundation has funded tens of millions of dollars worth of important work, from small local projects costing a couple of hundred dollars, to large, multi-year campaigns which require millions of dollars to support. The Sierra Club Foundation's work reflects the core values of people everywhere. That we all have a right to a safe and healthy environment, clean air, clean water, open space, wild lands and a healthy and diverse ecosystem.
